Our environmental and countryside services can enhance many different public and private settings. This could take the form of installing signs on a Woodland Trust site or installing new woodland pathways to allow the public easier access to enjoy the area.
During all work we carry out, our team is always mindful that we need to ensure that the completed project retains the surrounding areas’ delicate natural ecological balance.
We will only use environmentally safe products that are sourced with sustainability in mind. This approach means that we will help to maintain all our clients’ environmental and sustainability credentials.
Our range of environmental and countryside services
Pathway and footpath construction
With an increasing desire to access the countryside, we can install sustainable pathways using recycled aggregates or natural stone to allow access for all, including disabled users.
Wildflower meadow sowing and maintenance
To promote local ecology, we can sow wildflower meadows from small spaces up to vast areas. These help to enhance the population of bees, butterflies, moths and more. We can then maintain the areas as they are cut annually, with all arisings removed from site.
Riverbank restoration and reinforcement
Following erosion and silt build-up, we use our fleet of heavy machinery to dredge the bed of the river or stream to increase the water flow along the course. We also use natural materials to reinforce the banks to help reduce future erosion and sustain the flow of water.
Public access bridges over streams and ditches
With public footpaths being used more frequently, maintenance of Public Rights of Way has increased. With higher footfall, bridges require scheduled maintenance to ensure they are safe for users or to be replaced to ensure they are safe. We can make bespoke size bridges in our workshop or supply kit form bridges to be assembled on site.
Boardwalk installation and replacement
More diverse areas are being accessed by the public to explore the natural environment. These areas include rivers, marshland habitats and nature reserves. Installations provide access to some previously inaccessible areas. We install boardwalks either from natural or composite timber.
Redefine estate ponds
Using our heavy machinery and skilled workforce, we can dredge ponds and widen the perimeter back to their original size. We can also reinforce the surrounds if required using natural materials.
Create drainage ditches or clear existing ditches
To relieve surface water from both roads and fields, we can use our fleet of excavators to create or reinstate drainage ditches.
Horse hop construction
To allow the entry for horses, access is required whilst maintaining security of the site. A horse hop is used to allow horses and their riders to proceed whilst preventing motor vehicles from using the access. We have installed these structures for the Woodland Trust on permissive bridleways. This service can be adapted to many situations.
