Wildflower
Meadow Sowing
& Maintenance
SHERRIFF can help from in the initial site selection process through to the soil preparation, seed selection and then on to the sowing. Our experience supports the creation and maintenance of the ideal wildflower meadow.
Wildflower meadows are not only easy to grow, but they are also essential to the environment and biodiversity. They are not nutrient-reliant, so they can grow in any type of soil. Most wildflowers can withstand dry weather and, once they reach maturity, do not need to be watered frequently, but there will be some maintenance work required over time.
The planting of wildflowers helps to maintain the natural biodiversity, improve air quality, and help to encourage the return of species to an area. Wildflowers are also important to attract pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and birds.
Although the natural wildflower meadows are hardy and require little maintenance, there are some factors that to need addressing.
This is where our team can help:
- Spotting signs of pests, diseases or nutrient deficiencies
- Adding new species to your meadow over time to enhance biodiversity
- Mowing the meadow once or twice a year
- Monitor the meadow regularly for invasive weeds
